JOB DESCRIPTION
The Application Support & Development Manager is responsible for management of a team of Programmer Analysts who focus on application support and integration. This role and team it manages provides technical support and consultation to the business and IT management. This role is expected to deliver quality products and services on time to all customers, internal and external to IT.
TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
- 10 years experience with Information Technology: systems design, development, implementation and support, the last 4-6 of which involve management or personnel (staffing, performance management, development planning) in a technology environment, preferably in the Pharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and support new technologies and business processes.
- Demonstrated experience with management of application development and support teams.
- Experience in a global organization is required. Experience in a global, pharmaceutical, biotech or regulated manufacturing environment is desirable.
- Familiarity with good SDLC practices and validation in a pharmaceutical environment.
- Working knowledge/experience with security management, LDAP, and Active Directory.
- Working understanding of FDA Regulatory requirements regarding software validation, change control, and 21 CFR Part11 as pertains to the Pharmaceutical Industry.
- Proficient in use of all Microsoft Office solutions.
- A history of on-going professional training in topics such as project management, software engineering, validation, and client/server and web architectures.
- Fluency in English is require. Knowledge of German and/or Italian is highly desired
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Must ensure that applications within area of responsibility are maintained to continually meet or exceed business needs including long range strategy and application roadmap definition
- Analyze Service Requirements in business to define/revise service levels, monitor Service Quality and put proactive measures in place to improve it.
- Collect new user requirements, plan and implement application changes by involving all relevant parties (e.g. IT, QA, Business).
- Plan, budget and resource all initiatives requested by the business.
- Project oversight and reporting for requested project and tasks including all aspects of business analysis, development of requirements, system design and coding and system implementation. Implement application enhancements and modifications as necessary to meet business needs.
- Participation on initiatives which are sponsored by other business areas, including IT, the impact the application(s) and may require changes or need data/information.
- Management and direction of IT staff responsible for providing ongoing technical and application support to business units. Responsibilities include vendor management, and seeking out new and innovative solutions.
- Interface with external vendors to make sure the customer’s needs are met.
- Provide employees with training and resources to meet or exceed customer requirements.
- Monitor processes and products to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS / MEASURES OF SUCCESS
- Demonstrated strong, technical project management and people management skills is essential. Demonstrated experience with business analysis, system integration and implementation of emerging technologies is required.
- Experience with process reengineering and integration of disparate systems is a plus.
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to engage, interact, and negotiate effectively with stakeholders of all levels, including senior executives.
- Strong interpersonal, technical leadership and mentoring skills. Thorough understanding of risk management and mitigation approaches for complex organization and project issues.
- Must be able to clearly communicate with both business and technical staff.
- Must be able to successfully handle multiple priorities at the same time, be adaptable and embrace change.
- Successful candidate will possess a high level of technical expertise around middle-tier application systems, web-based technologies, database administration or other business applications.
- Results-oriented, pragmatic approach to problem solving. Ability to act as an advocate for consensus on complex issues.
- Significant experience in leading large-scale business application deployment (e.g. SAP, Siebel, SharePoint) and/or enterprise solutions. Minimum requirements EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
