full time Team Manager - Manufacturing IT

ROLE /PURPOSE

The candidate assuming this role is responsible for hiring, training and motivating India-Hyderabad staff assigned to the Manufacturing and Product Quality functions of Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics(NVD)IT. This role also requires strong collaboration with NVD IT’s global application teams at various sites in USA & Europe.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 8-10 years of experience in Information Technology.
  • 4 years experience in Pharma/Life Sciences, preferably in a multinational company
  • At least 3-4 years experience as Project Manager or Technical Lead/Manager
  • Sound technical expertise in current technologies including popular COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) solutions and Web technologies
  • Relevant work experience with Maximo, Trackwise, Meridian, Java, and Reporting Tools

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

Effective alignment of IT investment:

  • Management and direction of IT staff responsible for providing ongoing technical and

  • application support to business units.
  • Initiate, lead and/or support IT projects and their delivery in accordance with project goals, time scales and costs in compliance with V&D methodologies.
  • Support the IT portfolio planning process, ensuring sound business cases and analyzing key business initiatives and informational needs that support, improve and/or transform business operations, processes and strategy.
  • Help drive IT strategy for the area of responsibility and contribute to the business strategy for area and influence/persuade for its acceptance.

Develop an environment which fosters a high-performance and innovative team:

  • Ensure continuity in IT leadership and succession planning and be available for coaching of staff in both functional and core competencies.
  • Ensure continuous training needs identified for succession and career development of staff.
  • Collaborate across IT and with business management to leverage opportunities of job enrichment and development opportunities for staff.

Achieve the most efficient operations:

  • To design, build, test, implement, maintain and enhance business applications for key business services functions such as Technical Operations, and Quality Operations, to be in line with agreed timescales and costs under special consideration of GxP environment related requirements, ensuring reliability and availability of IT Systems.
  • Develop and deliver support in accordance with Service Level Agreements based on business requirements. Work closely with business partners in understanding and responding to both long-term and short-term business goals and strategy.
  • Challenge business partners and push back when necessary to ensure the V&D IT solution responds to their business needs while being cost-efficient at the same time.
  • Collaborate and negotiate with external partners to support system operations, development & integration, ensuring reliability, competence, flexibility and cost effectiveness.
  • To manage applications service delivery at all key Novartis V&D sites, providing clear role definitions, objectives and feedback mechanisms for support staff.
  • Ensure proper implementation of global standards, policies and systems platforms.

Achieve a fully Compliant Environment

  • Ensure all GxP Systems are validated
  • Ensure all systems are operated due to the Novartis Security Guideline
  • Ensure all key systems have SLAs with the customers

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS / MEASURES OF SUCCESS

  • Achievement of agreed targets in terms of quality, time, cost, and customer satisfaction.
  • Achievement of service levels corresponding to industry best practice (price/performance etc.).
  • Business value creation: measurement through return on investment and assessment of project results.
  • Operational excellence: measurement through BSC/KPIs and customer satisfaction surveys.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor in Computer Science or equivalent experience
